Soil microbial ecology of Araucaria angustifolia

This project uses part of the data generated in the Park by the global biodiversity project LifePlan (Lifeplan | University of Helsinki). Temporal series of soil microbial diversity patterns are related to genes involved in potential enzyme production (C and N cycles), and soil fluxes of CO2, N2O and CH4 to establish links between biodiversity and ecosystem function.  The results are compared with those obtained in Pinus plantation and open shrubby grassland vegetation and are used in parametrising and calibrating the DGVMs and Biome-BGCMuSo models.
