This project aims at optimising fire management planning and execution in the Park. Research projects are underway on the causes and impacts of recent historic fires. The Park possesses a detailed action plan to tackle vegetation fires. The objective of this work is to project the probability of fire occurrence - based on trends in meteorology, vegetation phenology and visitor use - and alert the responsible authorities (Park management, Park fire officer, municipal fire brigade, voluntary fire fighters) The project will employ participatory stakeholder consultation and agent-based modelling to explore best forecasting and decision making options.
