Ecohydrology

This project investigates the sources of water that trees access along topo-hydro-pedo gradients. Of particular interest is the portion that is accessible for plant uptake from the saprolite (weathered bedrock), underlying the soil and which has been reported to reach up to 10 m depth in Campos do Jordão.  Plant functional traits related to water acquisition and water use will be related to water sources used by plants. The results of this project will be of interest for hydrological modelling, and dynamic vegetation modelling (2D-aDVGM; JULES; Biome-BGCMuS0).
